Install the DampGuard where mold problems can be expected to occur, or where you have already noticed the first signs of mold (musty odor or a few mildew stains). Areas at special risk are:

  • Cold outside walls

  • Poorly ventilated areas (e.g. behind furniture, hangings or curtains, closets that are on an outside wall).

  • Bathrooms and kitchens

  • Basements (especially basements that have been converted to living space)

  • Areas around leaks in roofs, windows, or pipes, or where there has been flooding.

  • Corners of rooms

  • Window sills

Mount the DampGuard in the coldest and least ventilated part of the room or area. This is usually where there is the greatest risk of mold formation.

After installation, you should check the display on the DampGuard a few times a day to make sure that the yellow warning light does not come on. Whenever the DampGuard gives a yellow or a red warning, you should act quickly and make reducing moisture in your home your number one priority. Corrective actions typically take several days to work. When you are finally successful only the green LED will keep flashing.

For more details, see the DampGuard User Guide.
